December 1989, a stubborn little boy left his mother and other siblings in Zwedru and decided to follow his grandmother to Kanneh, a town northwest of Zwedru, not knowing what awaited him. Yeah, it was around Christmas season and the scent of the holidays was all in the air. New family members were coming to town while others were leaving town. It was sort of chaotic, cars honking, children cries mixed with that of chickens, cows, goats, dogs, and all the other domestic animals created some sort of complex melodic sounds in the air. It was amusing to just sit on the side walks and watch people running up and down the street. Some with infants on their backs and oversize luggages on their heads. Was this some kind of holiday tradition? Perhaps!
Anyway, this stubborn kid, “Gologo” as he was called by his older brothers, was so excited to leave with his grandma that nothing one could say or do that would have convinced him to stay.
